Asa Orval "Brody" Stevens, 71, of Wayland, Missouri, died Friday, March 28, 1997, at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa. He was born July 18, 1925, in Wayland, the son of Charles Herbert and Virgie May Arnold Campbell Stevens. He was united in marriage to Mary Dorlene Riney on April 12, 1952, in Kahoka, Missouri. She survives. Stevens was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II from 1944 to 1946. He had worked as a carpenter since 1962, until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Carpenters' Union Local #410, and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his wife, he is survived by six daughters; Mrs. Garry (Connie) Davis of Kahoka; Mrs. Byron (Mary Ann) Jackson of St Joseph, Missouri; Mrs Charles (Karen) Waller of Alabama; Mrs Charles (Diane) Kerner of Kahoka; Mrs Herman (Glenda) Lee of California and Mrs Joseph (Nancy) Farvour of Arkansas; two sons; Stan Stevens and his wife, Debbie, of Iowa City, Iowa; and Jim Stevens of Arizona; one brother, Herb Stevens and his wife, Betty, of New London, Iowa; one sister, Darlene Wirt of Burlington, Iowa; 19 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Delbert and Harold; one half-brother, Bill Campbell; and one grandosn, Garry Davis. Funeral services were held Monday, March 31, 1997, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, Missouri, with Reverend Dan Deatrick officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Cory Jackson, Kirk Jackson, Alyn Farvour and Jacob Kerner.
