Mrs Mary Belle (Mabel) Wheeler, 77, of Canton, died Saturday morning (June 11, 1977) at St Mary Hospital in Quincy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Canton. The Rev James Wheeler will officiate and burial will be in St Patrick Cememtery in St Patrick, Mo. Mrs Wheeler was born on Sept 18, 1899, in Iowa, the daughter of Neal and Annie Riney Powell. She married William P Wheeler on Jan 26, 1916, in St Patrick, Mo. He survives. Also surviving are three sons, William Robert of Marion, Ind, Charles Roy (Shorty) of Edina, and Marion Patrick of Cicero, Ill; three daughters, Mrs Mary Annabel Walker of Hamilton, Ill, Mrs John (Betty) Pearson of Baldwin, Mich, and Mrs Hardin (Thelma) Benning of Canton 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers.
