Mrs. Emma V. Preston died on Sunday morning at the home of her son J. A. Metz, on Avenue B and Fifteen Street. She was 63 years old and had been ill for about three months. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the United Evangelical church.

Emma Virginia Uglow, daughter of Benjamin and Elizabeth Uglow, was born near Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania on February 14, 1857.
She married John Daniel Metz in 1873 in Pennsylvania.
To this union seven children were born, three sons and four daughters. She came west with her family in 1880 by train and settled in Kearney County, homesteaded in Banner County, and later moved to Buffalo County, where she remained for several years working in the capacity of a nurse.
Later in life she married E. F. Preston, of this city, December 1, 1903. She died at the home of her son John A. Metz Sunday morning, August 21 leaving to mourn her death, her husband, Ellis Fletcher Preston and children: Mrs. Blanche Pinkston and Mrs. Lizzie Shanklin, of Alliance, Nebraska; Mrs. Belle Miles, of Angora, Nebraska; Mr. Frank Metz of Pleasanton; Mr. John A. Metz of Kearney and Mr. Guy Metz of Lynn, Nebraska. Her daugher, Mrs. Mamie Lund proceeded her to her heavenly home.
