MRS. CHARLES WILLIAMS
Eliza Jane Conner, daughter of Alfred and Harriett Conner, was born in Union township, Lucas county, Iowa, on October 4th, 1862, and her home has been in that vicinity nearly all of her life.
On March 31st, 1886, she was united in marriage to Charles Williams. Six children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy. Three sons, Ralph, of Des Moines, Floyd, of Omaha, and George, of Derby, with the husband, are living. She is also survived by an aged father, two grandchildren, four brothers, Marion Conner, of Derby, Will, of Moscow, Idaho, George, of Farmington, New Mexico, and Frank, of Des Moines, and by many other relatives and friends.
Two years ago she underwent a severe operation at Rochester, Minnesota, and seemed so benefitted her friends hoped she might live out the allotted time of three score years and ten.
Last March there were unmistakable signs of serious disorder in her system and medical aid was summoned. All efforts, by several physicians, failed to restore her to health. For the past five weeks her husband had been in constant attendance at her bedside until Tuesday morning, August 14th, 1917, when the heart, which had shown such unnatural activity for several weeks, suddenly stopped, and she passed peacefully away.
When Mrs. Williams was about sixteen years of age she professed faith in Christ and united with the Goshen Baptist church, of which she has since been a faithful member. It was a glad welcome when she, with a score or more of other young people, received the hand of fellowship, but no doubt there was a more hearty and joyous welcome for her in the heavenly home.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. M. J. Sigler, were held at the Goshen church on Wednesday afternoon, after which her body was laid beside those of her children who have gone on before.
