A. B. Bachelor Dies Here o Attack Monday.
A, Benton Bachelor, 58, well-known Belleville businessman dies of a heart attack Monday afternoon, August 21.
Mr. Bachelor had walked into The Telescope's office supply store when he was stricken. He was rushed to the Republic County Hospital where he was pronounced dead an hour later.
Mr. Bachelor was International Harvester dealer in Belleville from 1930 until 1966. He became District Supervisor of American Investors of Topeka in 1965, a position he held at the time of his death. He was also registered representative for Frontier Securities of Topeka.
He spent much of his life in public service having served 12 years on the Fair Amusement Committee of the chamber of Commerce. He served as president of both the Chamber of Commerce and Belleville Lions Club and was a Charter Member of the Elks Lodge of Belleville.
Mr. Bachelor was a member of the shrine and Masonic bodies.
He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy Scabees.
He is survived by his wife, Florence, daughter, Mrs. Lindsay Arpin and son, Allan bachelor of the home; one brother, William of Washington, D.C., two grandsons, Gary and Devan Arpin of the home.
Funeral services are scheduled at 10 o'clock Thursday from the United Presbyterian Church in Belleville. Interment will be in Belleville Cemetery.
