Jessie I. Powers, 82, of LaGrange, a member of Plato Methodist Church, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at Miller's Merry Manor.

The LaGrange County native was retired from Sturgis Newport in Sturgis, Mich., and was a member of Michiana Club.

Surviving are daughters Greta Barroquillo of Wolcottville and Mary Ann Ernsberger of LaGrange; sons Kenneth Boyd of North Augusta, S.C., and Keith Boyd of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters Mary Reade of LaGrange, Patty Schroyer of Hobart and Betty Cahoon of Carpenteria, Calif.; brothers Vernon Pontius of Ohio, Claude Pontius of Kansas and Robert Pontius of Elkhart; 24 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wenzel Boyd Sr., her second husband, Max S. Powers, sons Wenzel Boyd Jr. and Jerry Boyd, and a daughter, Gloria Fisher.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday at Plato Methodist Church, Plato. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Frurip-May Funeral Home, LaGrange. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery, Wolcottville.

Memorials are to the church.
