Ossie Edward Beal was 1st married to Inez E (Alley)Beal, 07 Sep 1940, Ossie and Inez had 4 children. 2nd marriage to Nancy Anne (Galey)Beal in 1962, Ossie and Nancy had 2 children. Ossie was a lifelong lobsterman who fished the waters from Machias Seal Island to Petit Manan. Ossie served as President of the Maine Lobstermen's Association (1967-1974) and as chief founder and board chairman of the Beals-Jonesport Co-op in 1970. He served his town as first-selectman from 1960-1973, and during this time he was instrumental in removal of the toll from the Jonesport-Beals Bridge, which had been placed in 1958. He was a member of the Maine Municipal Association, Downeaster Lobstermen's Association, Maine Lobstermen's Association, Jonesport Masonic Lodge #188, Anah Shrine Temple and Washington County Shrine Club.
