In 1891 Aquilla Clark traveled to Portland, Oregon to meet and marry Lillie Bogart. But before Lillie arrived he was shanghaied and was forced to travel around the world, chained to a ship. He was finally released in 1892. He located in in Camas where he spent the remainder of his life.

A.E. Clark died of a sudden heart attack. He was formerly chairman of the republican county central committee.

He lived at Fishers landing in Vancouver and had a wide circle of friends in Camas, Washington.

He is survived by the widow Mrs. Chad Clark; sister, and brothers, Frank, James and George.
