Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 5, at 1 p.m., at Paynesville Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Paynesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
William Nelson was born on March 5, 1915, to Nels P. and Sena (Johnson) Nelson in Priam, Minn.
He married WillaDean Payton on Aug. 8, 1948, in Alabama. Their union lasted until WillaDean's death in 1994.
They resided in Paynesville, where he worked at the North American Creamery and the Herb Schultz Mink Ranch.
He retired from Jennie-O Foods in Litchfield.
Bill was baptized on July 3, 1994, at Paynesville Lutheran Church.
Bill is survived by his children, Betty Bahner of Roscoe, Larry Nelson of Carlos, Robert (Renae) Nelson of Paynesville, Mike (Lorraine) Nelson of Eden Valley, Lisa (Terry) Nelson of New Richmond, Wis., and Cindy (Kirk) Bober of Cyrus; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, WillaDean; five brothers; two sisters; and a son-in-law.
