Mrs. Louretta Stockton
91, Dies Here Saturday

Mrs. Louretta Susan Stockton, 91, who had made Big Spring her home one year short of half a century, died here Saturday at 2 p.m.
Mrs. Stockton passed away at her home at 1200 Main Street following a month's illness. She had, however, been in failing health for several years.
Born in Waxahachie on April 3, 1861, Mrs. Stockton moved here in 1903 from Lampassas. The family home, which rises by a series of steps high above Main Street, has long since been one of the familiar sights of the city.
For many years Mrs. Stockton has been living with a daughter, Mrs. J. O. Kirby, in the family home. Friends of early days frequently visited her because in later years she was notable to get about too well. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the Order of Eastern Star.
The body will be in state at the Eberley Chapel, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday with her pastor, Dr. Alsie Carleton, officiating. Burial will be in the city cemetery beside the grave of her husband, James G. Stockton, who passed away in July 11, 1923.
Mrs. Stockton leaves two daughters, Mrs. Kirby and Mrs. John S. Northington, both of Big Spring; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. William D. Gooch, Canea, Sonora, Mexico.
Two sons, W. D. Gooch and Tom Gooch, preceded her in death.
Five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren also survive.
Daughter of Wilson Fulton and Mary Ann Davis.
