Robert M. Stump
1920-2010

Robert M. Stump, 90, of Goshen, passed away early Saturday morning, October 16, 2010, at Goshen General Hospital where he had been since October 7, 2010.

He was born in Goshen on October 6, 1920 to George W. and Ida (Monn) Stump. He married Arliss J. Cripe on August 17, 1941 at Goshen City Church of the Brethren. She died February 17, 2006.

He is survived by two sons, Robert M. Stump, Jr., of Indianapolis, and Thomas L. (Linda) Stump of Goshen; and a grandson, Kerry Stump of Goshen.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Stump; and two sisters, Mary Searfoss and Gladys VanderReyden.

A 1938 graduate of Goshen High School, Mr. Stump served in the US Army Air Corps from 1941-45. Robert and Arliss owned and operated Pierre W. Cripe Sales and Service until closing the store in 1982.

A member of Goshen City Church of the Brethren, he was a former member of Maplecrest Country Club and the American Legion. He was a longtime season ticket holder for GHS football and basketball. He enjoyed the Goshen Relays, IU basketball and Notre Dame football. He was an avid mushroomer.

Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, October 18, 2010, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

A 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 19, 2010, funeral service will be conducted at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home with Pastor Bev Weaver and Tim Yoder officiating.

Burial will follow in Elkhart Prairie Cemetery, Goshen.

Memorials may be given to Goshen City Church of the Brethren.
