Beloved Resident Dies Suddenly
Survived by Husband and Eight Children
Funeral services for Mrs. Stephen A. Kersh, aged 77, who died suddenly at her home Saturday morning, at 6:30, were held yesterday afternoon from the home near Spaders Church and interment was in the Spaders Church cemetery. Her pastor, the Rev. Arthur Blank, assisted by the Rev. Horace Lequear, officiated.
Six nephews acted as pallbearers. They were C. C. and John Wise, Ed Webb and Harry Whitehead, of Washington; Paul Reeves and Rev. Marion Craun. Flower girls were Ola and Margie Rodeffer, Evaleen Earman, Mrs. Lloyd Minnick, and Mrs. Robert Black.
Mrs. Kersh before marriage was Miss Agnes Long, daughter of Conrad and Eliza Long, of Centerville, and formerly of Shenandoah county. She was born at Mt. Olive, Shenandoah County, but moved to this section when a girl. She was a devout member of Salem Lutheran Church and a woman of the
highest Christian deals who had a host of friends throughout the Valley. Her sudden death came as a great shock to her many friends.
Fifty-six years ago she was united in marriage with Stephen Kersh, of Augusta county. They lived in the Belmont section, near Staunton, and near Mt. Crawford before moving to the Spaders Church community 31 years ago. She was a kind neighbor, ever willing to help anyone in distress, and will be greatly missed.
Besides her husband, she is survived by the following children: Mrs. Zoula Keyton, Abington, Ill., Charles Kersh. Harrisonburg: Buford Kersh, Spaders; Mrs. L C. Thompson, Harrisonburg; Virgil Kersh, Lockland, Ohio; Bernard and Anna Lee Kersh, at home; and Boyd Kersh, Lewlston, Ill.
