James Nathaniel Price grew up in Rogers, Bell County, Texas (from 1867-1889), the son of John W Prince, who was a teamster in the Confederate Army.
He attended Missouri Medical College in St. Louis, Missouri, and finished his medical training at Memphis Hospital Medical College in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1887. He practiced medicine in Rogers for a couple of years before moving with his wife to Gail, Borden County, Texas, where he was the first doctor in the county. He also served as County Clerk and bred cattle.

Winnie Prince (1895-1982)
An unnamed son who died at birth (1897)
Mallie Alta Prince (1898-1980)
James Pinkney Prince (1902-1983)
He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge, Oddfellows, and Woodmen. He was a charter member of the Masonic Lodge in Gail, Texas.
He died of typhoid fever in 1902, after tending to many patients who had suffered from the same. He was just 41 years old when he died. His youngest son, James Pinkney Prince, was born about 2 months thereafter.
