Robert was the son of Elizabeth (Holzen) and Chester E. Wise. He was married at least twice to Gloria and Delores. At his death he left a son and three daughters as well as wife, Delores. Here is part of his obituary:

Robert J. Wise, 49, a longshoreman who had lived in the Tacoma area most of his life, died Sunday. His home was at 9722 E. 156th St., Puyallup.
Mr. Wise was born in Minneapolis, and came to Tacoma 40 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Longshoremen's Union and the Catholic Church.
