Opened Last Sunday Resident Of Golden
Over 20 Years, Dies

Benjamin B. Baker, resident of Golden for many years and a former guard at the Boys' State Industrial school, passed away at St. Anthony's hospital early Sunday morning. He had been in ill health for some time and had been a patient at the hospital for the last nineteen days. He was 81.

Mr. Baker was born in Eagleville, Mo., July 1, 1865. He made his home in Missouri for thirty years, and after his marriage to Lulu E. Pierpont on April 10, 1892, in Van Wert. la. Mr. Baker railroaded in New Mexico and Idaho. He was with the Union Pacific railroad and later with the Santa Fe. The Bakers moved to Golden over twenty years ago, and after coming here Mr. Baker was employed as fire guard at the Industrial school for several years. He retired from active work several years ago.

Mr. and Mrs. Baker celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with members of their family on April 10, 1942. Surviving are: his wife Lulu E. Baker; eight children; Paul W. Baker, Lakewood; Clair C. Baker, Rock Springs,. Wyo.; Ben B. Baker, Raton. N.M.; Harold L. Baker, Salt Lake City, Utah; Juanita Bloom and Velma Parchen both of Denver; Audrey Hines, Golden; 19 grandchildren and one great-grand-child; one sister Mrs. E.W. Fitzwater, Jackson. Calif.; and a niece, Mrs. Gladys Lamin, Denver. Funeral services were held at the Howard Mortuary in Denver Wednesday and burial was in the Golden cemetery.
