Delvin L. Bausman, 76, of Oregon, formerly of Lanark, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at Ogle County Hospice Serenity Home.
Delvin was born April 8, 1934, in Stockton, the son of Orville and Thelma (West) Bausman. He attended Mount Carroll schools. Delvin served in the Navy during the Korean War. He married Donna Mae Smith on Aug. 12, 1955, in Mount Carroll. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2002. He was employed by Woods Equipment Co. as a machinist, and was self-employed for many years in appliance repair.
Delvin was a member of the Mount Morris American Legion. He participated in Relay for Life, and loved woodworking, fishing, camping, playing bean bag games, and splitting wood for building fires.
He loved sports, the Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, and the Illini, and coached Little League and girls softball for many years in Lanark. Delvin also loved giving his grandkids golf cart rides.
He is survived by one son, Dennis (Nancy Grahm) Bausman of Oregon; four daughters, Debbie (M9ke) Wiginton of Oregon, Laura (Donald) Giedd of Dixon, Jolene (Bruce) MacDougall of Durand, and Brenda (Randy) Carr of Oregon; seven grandchildren, Dan and Randy Mann, Cheri (Al) Wickert, Christin Giedd, Jody (Greg) Zissler, Jacob Whitsell, and Izzie; six great-grandchildren, Damon and Dylan Mann, Chase Heidenriech, Allisha and Alexis Zissler, and Chloe Parker; two brothers, Marvin (Margaret) Bausman of Thomson and Gerald (Annette) Bausman of Elizabeth; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Bausman of Lanark.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carson and Kenny Bausman; one niece, Teresa Sassaman; and one son-in-law, Gary Hockman.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon. Burial will be at Lanark Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Ogle County Hospice Serenity Home.
