Mr. Murphy died Sunday, Jan. 2. He was 88.
He was born April 14, 1916, in Canada. He was a building contractor in Southern California prior to moving to Grass Valley. He became a realtor and moved to Grass Valley in the mid 1980s. He enjoyed playing cards, especially solitaire, and his work.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Rosie; sons Gregory of Montana, Dennis of California, and John of Pennsylvania; sister, Beatrice of California; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wives, Pauline Alice Labbe on June 16, 1956, and Elizabeth Woodmansee on Nov. 22, 1985.
