JOHN D. WISHART
John D. Wishart, youngest son of James and Sarah Wishart, was born on a farm in Pleasant township, Lucas county, Iowa on January 28, 1883, and passed away at the Seaside hospital in Long Beach, Calif., on September 20, 1949, at the age of 66 years, seven months and 22 days.
He grew to manhood in Lucas county and was married to Bessie Rice and to this union one son, Kenneth, was born who survives. He resided in Chariton and vicinity until 1941, when he moved to Des Moines where he was employed in government work, later moving to Long Beach, Calif., where he was employed at the Grant Hotel.
His parents, four brothers, Homer, Ed, George and Charles, and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Fluke preceded him in death.
Besides his son, Kenneth, he is survived by one brother, James A. Wishart, of Chariton, one nephew, Harlan Wishart, of Russell, two nieces, Mrs. Hazel Schwartz, of Des Moines, and Mrs. Audrey Pedigo, of Chariton, and many other relatives and friends.
Services, conducted by the Rev. Clifford Carter, of the Evangelical United Brethren church, were held Monday, September 26, at 2 p.m. at the Miley funeral home. Burial was made in the Chariton cemetery.
