J.W. "Jack" Jetton

Funeral Services for J. W. "Jack" Jetton, 75 were held Thursday, April 19, 1990, with burial at Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Jetton, a surveyor and retired general contractor, died Tuesday, April 17, 1990, at Memphis Veterans Medical Center.

A native of Trenton, he was the son of the late John W. and Mary M. Jetton of Sunny Brook Farm. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1933 and from Virginia Military Institute in 1937. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Mr. Jetton was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the board of deacons, Sunday school superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He was a member of the Gibson County Contractors Association. Mr. Jetton helped to found the first Gibson County support group for the mentally retarded and helped develop special education classes for the Trenton public schools.

Survivors include his wife, Nell W. Jetton of Trenton; three daughters, Frances Bland of Murfreesboro,, Susan Jetton of Charlotte, North Carolina and Mary Ann Saunders of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a son John Jetton of Trenton; a brother, Robert M. Jetton of Trenton; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
