COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Michael John Fullerton, 56, of Milton-Freewater died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010, at Regency at the Park in College Place, Wash., from complications of metastasized melanoma cancer. A family memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

Mr. Fullerton was born Dec. 5, 1953, in Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, to Norman and Hazel Fullerton. Early in life he emigrated with his family to Canada, where they lived in Edmonton, Alberta. At the age of five his family moved to Milton-Freewater. He graduated from Mac-Hi in 1972, enjoying football and tennis, and having a particular interest in mathematics. He attended the University of Oregon and then worked in Portland for several years.

His interest and work in Scientology took him to Los Angeles, where he lived for 30 years, working for the Church of Scientology and in sales. Due to ill health, he returned to Milton-Freewater in March 2010, spending his last months in the loving care and support of his family.

Mr. Fullerton is survived by his parents, Norman and Hazel Fullerton of Milton-Freewater; sisters Jane Kilburg of Milton-Freewater and Helen Ward of Tigard; brother James Fullerton of Kings Beach, Nev.; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces.
