Donis Marie (Todd) Williams

Donis Marie Todd Williams was born the fifth daughter to Clarence N. Todd and Myna Marie Todd on Jan. 6, 1930, in Filley, Mo.

From Missouri they loaded up the six girls in a 1928 Chevy and moved to Yakima, and later to Midvale, Idaho, where Clarence knew and later worked with Clay Sutton.

In the spring of 1943, Myna gave birth to a son, Newtie Todd, and passed away after childbirth. Clarence, being depressed, moved the whole family to Visalia, Calif. Donis worked at a lunch counter, the Wrestling Match Cafe. Donis was 13 years old when she lost her mother.

While in grade school she went to Fairview School and later went to High School in Midvale, too, but dropped out when she was a 10th grader to work. She moved to Weiser and got an apartment and worked at the Washington Hotel as a waitress in the early 1950s.

Her sister, Fernie, moved to Weiser and lived with her and she later married Alton Stover. In Weiser, Donis married Frank E. Williams on June 6, 1950, and later they homesteaded at Black Canyon, where they milked cows and farmed. Frankie Lee Williams was born during this time on July 26, 1951, followed by Jackie Ilene, Oct. 2, 1952. Later, a son was born, Ricky Joe Williams, on Dec. 20, 1956.

After moving to Weiser they lived in a small mobile home at Ole's and later on West 7th and Frank worked construction and they traveled around to different jobs.

They later purchased the place on Pringle Road on the Weiser Flat. Donis started working at Ore-Ida Foods in Ontario and worked there 20 years. After retiring, she took care of her husband Frank, who passed away July 26, 1991 of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

Since that time she has had a chance to travel and spent a few winters in St. George, Utah, and went to California several times to stay with her sister, Ruby. In 1997 she went to Disneyland with her son, April, grandson Brandon and Andrea. Later, she spent several weeks with Ruby. She loved to fish and especially dance. While Frank was alive they really went out and cut a rug. She would get off work at midnight on the weekends and she and Frank would go dancing.

When she had her first aneurysm in December, 2008, she was at a dance in Ontario.

Then, the day it hit her again, she had just purchased a 2003 Ford Thunderbird and was getting ready to go to the dance in Ontario again. She was so excited.

The first of January we had a surprise 80th birthday party for her at Idaho Pizza and she really enjoyed that.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Reba (Fat), Ruby, and Wanona (Sitter); brother, Newtie; and her husband, Frank.

She is survived by her three children Frankie (April) Williams, Jackie (Steve) Relka, all of Weiser, and son, Rick Williams, of Ontario, Ore. She has seven grandkids and 14 great-grandkids.

Seven years ago she met her cute little man, Vernon Kelley, and they had a lot of fun together. They both loved to gamble and went to Wild Horse and Jackpot often. They just returned from Jackpot the Wednesday before her passing, and planned on going again June 15. Vern will always be a part of our families lives.

We will miss Donis and her presence in our lives.
