Death Notice ~ James H. Requa

DIED - At Piermont, April 15th, of Consumption, James Requa, aged 48 years.

He was Captain of the first Military Company ever organized in Rockland County and his remains were interred in Rockland Cemetery on Saturday with appropriate military honors in which the various Military Companies of our County all joined. As a man he was esteemed and loved by all who knew him.

Note: According to their son's [Glode Requa] obituary, Glode Requa Born 1838, had moved at the age of 10 (1848) to Tarrytown for three years.

Glode Requa was not found in this Census living with his family in Orange Town. By the age of 14, Glode was working for the railroad and became the railroad's youngest Engineer by the age of 17.
