Funeral services are to be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Fickert chapel for Daniel M. Hull, aged 77, father of Sheriff Floyd Hull. Death came suddenly last night at 11 o'clock to the prominent pioneer and retired rancher, following an enjoyable evening spent at the home of his son. He was attacked suddenly at 11 o'clock with severe pains and died a short time later without great suffering.
Funeral services will be in charge of the Masonic lodge of Corning of which deceased was a member. Burial will be made in Oak Hill cemetery. No other details regarding the funeral services were obtainable her today as Sheriff Hull was out of town the greater part of the day notifying relatives of the passing of his father.
Daniel Hull came to California over the plains from Illinois when a baby of about two years of age. Newville was selected as the site for the family home and deceased has lived in the immediate vicinity all his life. He was born on May 13, 1850. In 1878 he was united in marriage to Eunice Osborn.
Deceased leaves a widow and one son, three brothers and three sisters, John Hull of Chromeville, Glenn county; Cyrus of Stoneyford, Glenn county; Tell of Barberville, Humboldt county; Mrs. Rilla Millsap of Chromesville; Mrs. Emma Scribner, Bellingham, Washington, and Mrs. Ellen Metcalf, San Francisco.
Deceased had the distinction of being the second oldest Mason in the county so far as records reveal. He had been a member of the order for more than fifty years.
Until two years ago he was actively engaged in ranching. He retired at that time, however, and moved to Red Bluff, but still retained two ranches west of Red Bluff. - Transcribed by E.
