Newspaper Clippings furnished by Jeanette Denson "--Mrs. E.G.Thomas, of this village, and daughter, Miss Kate Thomas of Schenectady will accompany a party of fifteen or twenty residents of Schenectady on a trip abroad, starting the 27th of this month. They will go first to Naples, Italy, and will proceed from there to points of interest in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, England, Scotland and Ireland being absent from home two months."

"SAD ENDING OF TRIP ABROAD A cablegram from Venice, Italy, brought a sad message to Bath, Monday noon. It was to the effect that Mrs. Emeline G. Thomas who left here the 27th of June for a tour of Europe in company with her daughter, Miss Kate Thomas of Schenectady, was hopelessly ill in the English hospital in Venice. Of course there were no details and the members of the family waited in terrible suspense for further information, their hopes continually overbalanced by their fears. The second dispatch came about 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon announcing that Mrs. Thomas was dead. It was a sad ending to what was planned and eagerly looked forward to for many months as a delightful journey. Mrs. Thomas sailed from New York on June 27 for Naples. Her ship reached that port on July 10. Although no letters have yet been received, it was known that before going to Venice the party would visit Rome and several other cities. The nature of the illness that proved fatal is not known. Mrs.Thomas was in her usual health, except for a slight cold when she left Bath. She was 68 years old, and had always resided in Bath and vicinity.
