The following mention of Eugene Stanley's military service comes directly from his son, Stanley Eugene Grubaugh.
"Dad enlisted in the Navy toward the end of WWII in 1946 and served as part of the Naval Occupation Forces in the Pacific.
After the war, he returned to Shawnee, Oklahoma as a civilian. After the birth of Kaye in 1950, however, he was recalled to active duty in the Korean Conflict. He was forward deployed on the USS Choure, ARS-1. After Korea, he remained on active duty and retired in 1968.
He and his son Stan were on active duty in 1968 at the same time.

He served on carriers USS Ranger (CVA-61), USS Coral Sea (CVA-43), USS Hornet (CVS-12), USS Guam (LPH-9), CVAW-111 Det "G", NAS Moffett Field, San Jose CA, NAS North Island, Coronado CA, VF-121 NAS Miramar, San Diego, CA, HS-8, NAAS Ream Field, Imperial Beach, CA, VF-101, NAS Boca Chica, Key West, FL, NAS Memphis, Millington, TN, NAS Norman, Norman, OK, NAS Hutcheson, Hutcheson, KS, and NS Norfolk, VA.
He flew as aircrew on the P-5M Marlin, P-2V Coastal Patrol Bomber, P-2V(7) Neptune Airborne Early Warning (AEW) Aircraft, W2-F "Willie Fudd" AEW Aircraft, E-2C Hockeye AEW Aircraft, and the SH-3a Sea King Helicopter."
