Iona M. Brown, 85, of Stryker, Ohio died Friday evening, February 29 2008 in Harborside Healthcare Center, Bryan, Ohio.
She was born in Melbern, Ohio on June 1, 1922 in her family home, to the late Leo and Mada (Stantz) Penrod. She married Drexell W. Brown on July 25, 1941 and he preceded her in death on June 4, 1997. Iona was a employee of Spangler Candy Co. in Bryan for 5 years, she had also worked at the former Metal Forge in Stryker, and retired from Fulton Tubing in 1982. She was a member of Stryker United Methodist Church, and Moose Lodge. She enjoyed babysitting her great-grandchildren, and was an excellent homemaker. Iona was a avid supporter of her family's sporting events.
She is survived by; Son: Kenneth W. (Sandra) Brown, Stryker, Ohio. Three grandchildren; Steve (Brenda) Brown, Stryker, Ohio, Kristine (P.J.) Sonnenberg, Stryker, Ohio, Kamie (Joey) Beck, Stryker, Ohio. Seven great-grandchildren; Evan, Derrick, Terence, Bryson, Nicole, Mikala, Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Shirley L. Brown, son, Richard Z. Brown, two brothers Floyd and Denver Penrod, sister, Leda Andres.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 5 2008, in Grisier Funeral Home, Stryker, Ohio. Private family graveside service and interment. Pastor Crystal Goodnight officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Stryker Athletic Boosters.
