Denver -- John Kundred Jr., 56, former Hays resident, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Lutheran Hospital, Denver. He was born July 5, 1944, in Hays to John E. and Mary Alice (Staab) Kundred.

He married Lynna Lyda on Feb. 8, 1964, in Hays. She died Jan. 30, 1988.

He was a graduate of St. Joseph Military Academy and Fort Hays State University. He was a customer service representative for DirecTV and a member of Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church in Green Mountain, Colo.

Survivors include two sons, Curtis Kundred, Danville, Calif., and Eric Kundred, Englewood, Colo.; a daughter, Jennifer Leichner, Larkspur, Colo., his parents, Hays; a sister, Jackie Havel, Overland Park; and by four grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays, with Father Earl Befort officiating; graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander Cemetery, Alexander. Visitation will be from 2 to 6:30 p.m. and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, and from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday at Brock's North Hill Chapel, 2509 Vine. There will be a parish vigil at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
