Melvin J. Locke, 83, formerly of Lombard, passed away February 11, 2008 in Plainfield, in the presence of his loving family.

Beloved husband of Sharron Koelsch Locke; loving father of Mel, Mark, Tom, Sybil Lister, David, Lisa Welsh, Jeff, and Christian Lea; loving step-father of Michael Koelsch; cherished grandfather of Andrew, Jayce, Amanda Lister, Megan and Matthew Welsh, Giada, and Courtney; loving brother of John, Andrew, and Betsy. Mel is also survived by his second wife, Gail Locke.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sybil; and his grandchildren, Jessica Locke and Justin Lea.

Mel served proudly in the US Army during WWII, and was a longtime employee of the 7UP beverage company.

Memorial Mass Thursday, February 21, 2008 at St. Mary Immaculate Church, 129 S. Division St., Plainfield, 10:30 a.m. with luncheon reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mel's name may be made to St. Mary Immaculate Church Food Pantry (815) 436-2651.
