Mrs. Lloyd Spiers [Spires] was a victim of a hit and run accident near St. Helena [Napa Co., CA] Sunday morning. Mrs. Spiers [sic] lost her life, the other inmates of the car being unhurt. Mr. and Mrs. Spiers [sic] visited here last week with the family of Henry McDonnell on Matheson Street. Mr. Spiers [sic] is a cousin of Mr. McDonnell and his sister Louise Decker, and the visitors left Saturday morning for Calistoga [Napa Co.] where other relatives reside.
The driver of the hit and run car was Milton Walcutt, of San Francisco, and when arrested, the man was charged with manslaughter, driving away from an accident and driving while intoxicated.
