He was born in Hiwassee, Va., on December 12, 1923, and lived in the Roanoke area most of his life.
He was the son of the late Malcolm and Liddy Stilwell Henley.
Harley was a veteran of World War II, serving with the 101st Airborne, and a member of VFW Post #4318. He was employed by General Electric and retired in 1985.
In addition to his parents, Harley was preceded in death by his wife, Ilean Sutphin Henley in 2004; grandson, D.J. Henley in 2005; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Jody Henley, of Salem, and Dwight Henley, of Roanoke; grandchildren, Shay (Jason) Chauvin and greatgrandson, Trevor Chauvin, of Louisiana, Angela Crouch, of Salem, and Jason Crouch, of Roanoke; and sisters, Mary and Martha.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 8, 2010, at Family Choice Funerals & Cremations, 4922 Valley View Blvd. North, NW, Roanoke with the Reverend Frank Feather officiating. Burial with Full Military Honors will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
