Parents:
Ebenezer & Getty Ann "Edmonds" Ferris

Other Children:
~ Isaac Jr. (30 Oct 1823, Linwood, OH-last found liv. in Grass Township, IN in 1880; not listed in Spencer Co. cemetery books)
~ Phebe A "Ferris" Close (4 Mar 1840-; m. Alexander on 1 Jan 1862 in Ham. Co., OH; he died bet. 1870-1880)

There may be one other unknown son; in the 1840 census in Columbia, Hamilton Co., OH, there were 2 male children between 5-10 years old, if the census taker was correct. That would be John and another son. This other son does not appear in the 1850 census, so either he died or the census taker made an error.

At age 4y, Isaac was sent to live with his grandfather in Hamilton Co OH and there learned the shoemaker and tannery trades under his Uncle Abram. Disliking this work, he entered the blacksmith and the harness business and after a 5-year apprenticeship, began the manufacture of hames (which he continued until his death). Isaac was one of the founders and the first pastor of the Duck Creek Baptist Church; in 1825 became a licensed preacher in the Baptist Church; ten years he preached at the Duck Creek Baptist Church; afterward thirteen years pastor of the East Fork Church; also led the flocks at Newton, Cloughs, Hammer's Run, and elsewhere. During his pastoring, he still did blacksmithing and farming
