Charles Springer dies at Bluffton
Charles H. Springer, 85, of Geneva, a retired farmer, died at 12:20 a.m. Saturday at the Bluffton clinic. He had been in ill health several months. He attended the Nazarene Church. Born near Pleasant Mills on May 10, 1889, he was the son of Lewis and Esther Matheson-Springer, and was married on March 26, 1910, to Myra M. Wolfe, who died in 1971. Surviving are three sons, Forrest M. of Pennville; Jack of route 1, Portland; Wayne of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Dolores) Burdge of Liberty Center; Mrs. Delmore (Glenda) Mitch of Monroe; two sister, Mrs. Laura Archer of Decatur; Miss Velma Springer of Lima, O.; one brother, Virgil of Lima, O.; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Three sisters and one half-brother preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Downing funeral home, Geneva, with Rev. Robert James and Rev. David Whitteberry officiating. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. today.
