ARCOLA -- George William Wilkerson, 79, of Arcola, died at 8:53 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004 at Shrader Funeral Home, 204 N. Locust Street, Arcola, with Rev. Margaret Misal as officiant. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. George was born Nov. 12, 1924, in Arcola, the son of Mark and Lillie Houchin Wilkerson. He married George Anna Hall in Plano on Jan. 20, 1948. She survives. Besides his wife, George Anna, he is survived by one son, Michael Wilkerson of Arcola; one daughter, Kathy Schrock and husband Howard of Lake Ozark, Missouri; six grandchildren, Katrina Redd and husband Matt of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Kristi Clark and husband Brad of Lake Ozark, Missouri, Angie Snyder of O'Fallon, Lori Haarmann of Springfield, Illinois, Eric Schrock of Columbia, Missouri, Kim Dankenbring and husband Kirk of Waverly, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Jackson and Kassidy Redd, Kaylie Clark, Michael,Michaela and Megan Snyder, Holden Haarmann and Kennedy Dankenbring. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard. George graduated from Arcola High School at age 16. He was a retired farmer and also retired from Quantum, Industries in Tuscola after 35 years. He was a member of the Arcola United Methodist Church, Mattoon Moose and Eagles Club.
