Port Woman Fatally Hurt On Tuesday

Port Washington, - Mrs William Schuknect, 67, was injured fatally Tuesday night and her son, George Schuknecht, suffered a broken leg when they were struck by a hit and run driver while crossing the street on upper Wisconsin street shortly before 7 o'clock.

Mrs. Schuknecht had been attending the sewing circle at St. Mary's school when called for by her son. They had nearly crossed the street whan a north bound car, described only as a 1936 Pontiac, suddenly swerved over to their side of the road, striking them, but failing to stop. Henry Lubner of Cedarburg was first on the scene, and shortly afterwards, Fred Schuknecht, son of the victim, was thee to help mother and brother to the St. Alphonse hospital where she died shortly after 10 o'clock both legs and her skull having been fractured.

Roland Schaefer, Ozaukee county sheriff said today that the coroner's jury will view the body this morning, and an inquest will be held later.

Mrs. Schuknecht, nee Ella Gengler, was born in Port Washington in 1875. She was married to William Schuknect, present clerk of circuit court, in 1896.
