homicide
struck by a man’s fist, public place
Informant: Mrs. L. G. Crabtree (Nell)
RR# 1, Kingston, TN
My parents saw Lunie at a service station in Kingston and offered him a ride but he declined. Later that evening, he was with four other men. They had been drinking and pulled off the road in South Harriman. According to a witness that was sitting on her front porch she heard arguing and possibly fighting. Lunie had a deep wound behind the ear.
They stopped at a water fountain in South Kingston and tried to revive him. My parents came by “the spring” ,located beside Mans Hollow Road, at 11 pm and saw the car stopped there. The men had stopped again and tried to revive him at “the spring”. They brought him down to his brothers house around 1 am.
One of the men got my Grandpa out of bed and was told he needed check Lunie, something was wrong with him. He got in the car to check on Lunie in the back seat and knew he was dead when he touched him. He was soaking wet from their trying to revive him.
One was charged for it. No one knew if he spent any time for killing Lunie.
His Mother was in the house spending the night. She had to be told the next day. She asked, if something had happened to Lunie?
Thank you to Louise for the transfer but most of all for creating his memorial.
