My g-g-grandfather.
Born to Carlo B. Osgood and Polly Rich Osgood, he was the oldest of five children, and their only child to have children. At nine years of age, his father died, leaving him to care for the rest of the family. He later enlisted in the Civil War where he served for three years.

On Aug. 16, 1865, James married Julia Ann Peck. Soon after their marriage they moved to Trowbridge, Allegan County,Michigan. They were able to obtain a farm there, where four children were born to them. Julia died January 20, 1879.

James then married Esther B. Tunisan on December 3, 1879. No children were born to them. They lost the farm and moved to Maynard, Iowa in 1885. James' and Julia's second son, William went with them to Iowa.

James and Julia both were very active in church work, James taking part in preaching often.

Esther died on April 9, 1933 at Maynard, Fayette County, Iowa. James and Esther are both buried there.

Many thanks to my aunt who complied this information from her own family records, and from the records of other family members.
