Funeral services for Lyall Bacon will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at the Amity Church of Christ. The Revs. Ray Racer and Larry Hake will officiate.

Interment will be conducted at Amity Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Macy & Son Funeral Directors.

Mr. Bacon died at home on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006. He was 91.

Born in Soldiers Grove, Wis., on July 28, 1915, he was the son of Amos and Emma (Redfield) Bacon. After graduating from local schools, he attended Rischland Center College.

He married Gladys Ruby Schoville on Oct. 30, 1940. They lived in Beloit, Wis., until 1950, when they moved to Taft, Calif. They relocated to Amity in 1970.

Growing up, he worked with his father in a blacksmith shop. While in Amity, he ran the Chevron gas station until his retirement in 1981.

He was a longtime member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Blacksmiths and a member of the Amity Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Robert of Amity and Wayne of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Bonnie White of California; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Jean; a brother, Nyall; and a sister, Violet Felton.
