Obituary-
Dr. I. S. Workman, Medical Dean, Dies at home.
Dr. Irvin S. Workman, 87, Dean of Knox county Physicians, died at 8 am today at his home, 102 S. Gay St. following four years illness.
He had retired from active practice some five years ago and that same year was awarded a 50-year pin by the Knox County Medical Society.
Dr. Workman was graduated in 1903 from Western Reserve Medical School at Cleveland, and practiced in Gambier for five years before moving to Mount Vernon in 1908. He was also a graduate of Denison University and served in the Army Medical Corps in World War I with rank of Captain.
He was a member of the Gay St. Methodist Church, Knox County Society and Ohio State Medical Assn., and the American Legion.
Dr. Workman is survived by his wife, Hulah Phillips Workman; two sons, Dr. Samuel K. Workman of Chicago and John P. at home; three daughters, Mrs Ruth Barnett of Princeton, N.J., Dr. Elizabeth Lash of Willoughby, and Mrs Mary Diggles of Chicago; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and a brother, Royal Workman of Avon Park, Fla.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 pm at the Dowds Funeral Home, where the funeral will be Monday at 2 pm., the Rev. John B. Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Mound View cemetery. The family asks flowers be omitted.
