He was a member of First Baptist Church and sang in the gospel group, "One Heart." He worked at Rich Mountain Community College, and owned and operated Circle G Western Store. He was president of the Lions Club and was on the Chamber of Commerce board. He received a bachelor's degree from Mississippi State University and a masters and PhD at Auburn University.
Survivors include his wife; two sons; one daughter; one brother; and one grandchild.
