Jack was the Son of James Cardwell and Sarah "Sally" Crockett. John married Mary Jane McCoun on April 20, 1807, in Mercer County, Kentucky. They were the parents of five children. Jack served in the War of 1812. After Mary Jane's death, John married Margaret Ransdell. There are no known children born to their union.
