William was born in Benton County, Arkansas, August 15, 1886. He came to Oklahoma in 1897 with his parents and they settled in the Cushing area. He was a farmer until he retired and moved into the city of Cushing where he lived the remainder of his life. He took for his wife Mary Engleheardt in 1904 in Stroud, Oklahoma. She passed from this life July 8, 1927 and he married Mamie Ladd in March, 1928. She died October 21, 1963. He was a member of the True Followers Church. He was the father of Lola Hood, Opal Hood, Dorothy Hood, Vera Hood, Leonard Hood, Floyd Hood and Elmer Hood. He was the step-father of Lela Ladd, Nila Ladd, Ruby Ladd, Floyd Ladd, Everett Ladd, Roy Ladd and Forrest Ladd.
