Samuel Aaron Barder was born September 18, 1889 in Wimberley, Hays County, Texas, to John Ernest Barder, (born in Germany) and Georgia Ann English. Samuel stood 6ft. 1in. tall, had blue eyes, brown hair and a fair complexion. He was a farmer and stockman in Hays County, Texas. He was not married. Samuel served 2 years and 8 months in Co. E 2nd Texas Infantry as a sharpshooter, from 1915 through 1916. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a REGULAR RANGER from April 3, 1916 through December 31, 1916, as a private in Co. D. He resigned and then worked as a stockman in Henley, Hays County. Samuel again enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a RAILROAD RANGER, from August 17, 1922, until September 26, 1922. He was discharged. Samuel Aaron Barder died November 27, 1963, in Medina County, Texas. He is buried in Dripping Springs Cemetery, Hays County, Texas.
