Louisa Camper Vann Ice was the daughter of Simon Camper (Kemper) and Mary Campbell who married in Botetourt County, Virginia. They moved first to Tennessee and then later to Alabama.

She married ____ Vann in Alabama about 1846. The marriage record for that time period is missing. They had one child, Mary Adeline Vann who was born in Alabama. A family story is that she came to Texas around 1854 with an older sister, Mahala Camper Ice to visit their brother Robert Hurt Camper.

She married George W. Ice on 27 Jun 1855 in Smith County, TX. He died in 1863 of disease contracted in the Civil War. She received a land grant as a confederate widow.
