FORSYTH – Mary Evans Whitehead, 85, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2010. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Pastor Eric Byrd will officiate.

Mrs. Whitehead was preceded in death by her husband, James Carlton Whitehead, her son, Michael Evans and a daughter, Sarah Frances Evans. She was born in Scotland, GA the daughter of the late Edward Theodore and Ethel Mae Ashley and had lived in Macon most of her life. Mrs. Whitehead retired as manager of Stephens and Channin's ladies' clothing stores. She was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and was a talented pianist and singer. Mrs. Whitehead, known to her family as "Nunna," was a vivacious, loving lady who made friends wherever she went. She dearly loved her family and friends and she will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Mickey Sapp of Forsyth; her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Judy Evans of Hampton; her daughter-in-law, Molly Evans of Macon; eight grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
