William and Elizabeth Bahr, with their family, spent the summer months at their farm home and during the school year they lived in Minden and later in Grand Island.
In 1910 the Bahrs went to Hastings to live where Hilda completed her education at the Immaculate Conception Academy where she majored in piano and voice.
In 1913 the Bahr family came to Keya Paha County to live on their ranch on the Niobrara River where Hilda became interested in every phase of ranch life and, being a great lover of horses, she was an excellent horsewoman. She loved the great outdoors and flowers which she grew in abundance. She was also instrumental in growing trees, both ornamental and fruit-bearing.
In 1934 Hilda was united in marriage with Fred Amspoker and went to Springview to live.
At the passing of her husband in 1951, she returned to the ranch to live with her brother and sister, Fred and Hertha. The three of them had enjoyed traveling and pursuing their various hobbies.
Hilda became ill in late 1967, and was a patient in the Burke Memorial Hospital in Burke, South Dakota at the time of her death on Saturday, August 17, 1968. Surviving her are her brother Fred, two sisters, Hertha and Clara Connell, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
