Irene Williams Thacker passed away in Salt Lake City, October 6, 2010.

Born October 9, 1916 in Emery, Utah to Ingry Lucinda Bunderson and Irven Kimball Williams.

Music fascinated Irene and she became the primary organist at nine and later a ward organist. Graduating from South Emery High School in 1934, she received a scholarship to Stevens Henegar Business College. She worked for the Purity Biscuit Company and as a bookkeeper at the Heber Exchange.

She married Horton "F" Thacker in the Salt Lake Temple, June 22, 1945. Over the years, they lovingly cared for 18 foster children on their farm in Daniel, Utah. Irene had a special love for animals and raising pet lambs, and their "community garden" was open to all.

As a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Irene loved family history, temple work and working in many auxiliary organizations. Irene and Horton served a mission to the Provo Temple from 1979-1981. This extraordinary woman devoted her life to serving all who crossed her path.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph's Villa for their loving care.

Irene is preceded in death by parents and two siblings, John Walter Williams and Dorris Leonard.

There will be a viewing Sunday, Oct. 10, 6-8 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake and also one hour prior to the funeral services held Monday, October 11, 2010 at noon in the Daniel Ward, 1661 East 980 South, Heber, Ut. Interment in the Charleston Cemetery.
