He was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Ohio County, the son of Everett and Belva Lowe Holdcraft. He was a farmer and a builder. He had built several homes over the years and had built the home he and his wife shared for 21 years on Bear Branch Road. He was a member of Mount Sterling Baptist Church, where he was baptized.
He is survived by one daughter, Edith M. Gibbs of Louisville, Ky.; four half brothers, Stacy Holdcraft of Bowling Green, Ky., Marvin Holdcraft of Utica, Ill., Winfred Holdcraft of Seatonville, Ill., and Randy Holdcraft of McMabb, Ill.; two grandsons; one great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Hatton Lowe, whom he married Feb. 26, 1938, and who died Sept. 27, 2002; his parents; one half brother, Odie Holdcraft; and one granddaughter.
The funeral was at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Burial was in Rising Sun New Cemetery.
