Mrs. J. B. Helms, 61, was buried Tuesday afternoon in Oakwood Cemetery, the funeral being conducted from the Primitive Baptist Church.
Mrs. Helms died at her home on Moss Street Sunday night after an illness of only four days.
Besides her late husband, she is survived by five children, Mrs. Muscoe Winn and Albert Helms of Martinsville; Edward Helms of Bassett; Mrs. J. B. Arvin of Winston-Salem; and Beaman Helms of Waynesboro.
Surviving brothers and sisters are P. H. Lawless of Berwin, W. Va.; Dr. R. L. Lawless, Danville; William Lawless, McDowell, W. Va.; Mrs. Fannie Wilson, Hurt; Mrs. James Hopkins, Bassett and Mrs. Lucy Lawless, Danville.
Mrs. Helms, who before her marriage, was Miss Jennie Lawless, was a faithful member of the Primitive Baptist Church for 40 years.
Pall bearers at the funeral Tuesday were J. Minter, J. C. Napier, W. C. Shumate, J. Frank Stultz, H. D. Winn and R. C. Hurd.
