In her book "Elizabeth (Alden) Pabodie and Descendants," 1897, p.31, Mrs. Charles L. Alden writes that next to the grave of Abigail (Church) Simmons "is the base of a large stone, which probably marks the grave of her husband." Mrs. Alden also states that William Simmons was born Sept. 24, 1672. However, both "Massachusetts Town and Vital Records" and "Mayflower Births and Deaths" say that he was born Feb. 24, 1672. This memorial thus follows those sources.
