Susan B. Thornton was born in 1826 and married her first husband, Hon. James H. Baldwin, Nov. 19, 1846 in Clay County, Missouri, and they had one child, John Thornton Baldwin. Her husband James died in 1855, and Susan married Dr. James D. McCurdy on September 2, 1858 in Clay, Missouri. Dr. and Mrs. McCurdy later moved to Salem, Oregon, Walla Walla, Washington, and eventually to Bellevue, Idaho.
